De flens is over het algemeen gemaakt van verkoperd nikkel of zilver.Het weerstandssubstraat is over het algemeen gemaakt van berylliumoxide, aluminiumnitride en aluminiumoxide-afdrukken afhankelijk van de stroomvereisten en de omstandigheden van warmtedissipatie.
De flensafsluiting wordt, net als de gelode afsluiting, voornamelijk gebruikt om signaalgolven te absorberen die naar het uiteinde van het circuit worden verzonden, om te voorkomen dat signaalreflectie het circuit beïnvloedt en om de transmissiekwaliteit van het circuitsysteem te garanderen.
De flensaansluiting heeft het kenmerk van eenvoudige installatie in vergelijking met patchweerstanden vanwege de flens en montagegaten op de flens.
